- Due assegni di ricerca junior su progetto PRIN “HealthyAGE con scadenza 16 NOVEMBRE 2023. Di seguito i dettagli:
Two 24 months research positions at Uninsubria (Varese), Department of Economics, and Unipd (Padova), Department of Economics and Management.
We are looking for 2 Junior Researchers (Assegnista di Ricerca) to work on the PRIN project “Health and Wellbeing of the Elderly” (“HealthyAGE”), funded by MUR and run at the Department of Economics of the University of Insubria (Varese) and at the Department of Economics and Management of the University of Padua. The Junior Researches will be involved in activities such as the review of the literature, data collection and data cleaning, development of the econometric models and drafting of academic papers. In particular, the Researchers will work on two (overlapping) working packages:
Researcher 1, University of Insubria
The Researcher will contribute to the scientific debate on the health and well-being of the elderly. As far as health is concerned, the empirical literature shows that the incidence of cancer is higher among the elderly than the overall population. Primary prevention through screening programs has been proven to lead to a decrease in cancer incidence and mortality. By examining data from the US, we will shed light on the determinants of cancer screening behaviours.
The project will also address the issue of the income and financial wellbeing of the elderly. Over the last decades the economic wellbeing of the elderly has become more and more reliant on their financial choices, which are affected by their financial risk preferences. We will investigate the determinants of financial risk preferences of the elderly, both in the native and in the immigrant population.
The selected candidate will join the research team including Silvana Robone (PI), and Anna Cecilia Rosso.
Researcher 2, University of Padua
The researcher will contribute to the scientific debate on the health and well-being of the elderly. Particular attention will be devoted to the relationship between immigration and health in the host countries. For example, the project will investigate if labour market conditions of immigrants impact their health care utilization, and thus their likelihood of successful aging.
The project will also address the issue of financial wellbeing of the elderly and differences in financial risk-preferences between natives and immigrants.
The selected candidate will join the research team including Elisabetta Lodigiani (PI), Lorenzo Rocco and Elisa Tosetti.
Each position lasts for 24 months and is funded by MUR, within the PRIN project. The gross salary is about 22.000/23.000 euro per year. Fundings will be available over 2 years for the Researchers for conferences and business travels.
The ideal candidates should be proficient in econometrics and STATA and trained in health economics and/or economics of migration. Applications from both students about to conclude their Ph.D. thesis, and newly minted PhDs are welcome.
